Stobarts is a proud family company with a long history of making quality products since 1867.

The company is still run by the Stobart family with brothers Neil, Andrew and Philip heading the team with Ian and Emma taking the company into the future.

1867

In the terraced house beside the liberal club in Towngate, Bradford Josh Ellis (1 generation) opened his butchers shop.

James Stainthorpe (2nd generation) Josh’s nephew joined the business

1900

1920

Frank Stobart (3rd Generation) James nephew joined the business

1930

The first shop refrigerator was purchased

1948

Started making Pork Pies & Sausage Rolls in the shop

1950

Kenneth Stobart (4th Generation), Franks son became a partner

1953

Jowett Bradford van replaced the delivery bicycle

1963

Business moved 1 Mile to its current location on Carr Lane in Bradford

1963

STOPAK label used for pre packed meats supplied to major stores in Bradford & Leeds

1965

First refrigerated vehicle bought (Bedford TK)

1970

Weekly pie capacity now a few thousand

1974

Andrew Stobart (5th Generation) Kenneth’s eldest son Joined the Business full time

1975

Harold Hallas pie business and butchers shop in Huddersfield (Dawson’s Butchers) purchased.

1977

Neil Stobart (5th Generation), Kenneth’s second son joined the business full time

1977

Opened second shop in Huddersfield. The retail business was eventually expanded to 13 shops in Yorkshire and Lancashire

1986

All retails shops sold

1987

First Crypto Pearless in line pie machine purchased increasing our production to 1500 pies per hour

1998

Kenneth’s youngest son Philip Stobart (5th Generation) joined the business full time.

1998

Ian Stobart (6th Generation), Andrews’s son joined the business full time. 



1998

Between 1998 – 2002 Stobarts invested in excess of £250,000 on new machinery and factory extensions

2001

Achieved BRC higher level.

2006

Kenneth Stobart retired.

2010

Emma Stobart (6th Generation) Neil’s daughter joined the business full time

2010

Further capital investment of £700,000 doubling pie production

Stobarts Rebrand
